SQL Specialist - Mid-Level+ Database Administrator GPO DBA

PENDING CONTRACT AWARD

• Provide tier-2/tier-3 troubleshooting, configuration, and routine support for SQL Server environments under the guidance of and in collaboration with the Senior SQL DBA, directly supporting operations across all federal business units.
• Support SQL Server database solutions including backup/recovery operations, schema management, patching, upgrades, and application integration.
• Execute backup and restore operations, design backup schedules, validate restore integrity, and support disaster recovery testing and point-in-time recovery (PITR) procedures as directed by the Senior SQL DBA.
• Implement security baselines, encryption configurations, and auditing protocols in accordance with GPO IT Security policies and standards.
• Respond to Requests for Change (RFCs) and incident tickets via the Government's ticketing system, supporting request lifecycles from submission to closeout to minimize downtime and enhance service delivery.
• Resolve tickets according to operational SLAs, escalating complex issues to the Senior SQL DBA as appropriate.
• Assist with SQL Server database builds, upgrades, and application-integration efforts (including but not limited to SharePoint and legacy business systems).
• Support proactive capacity planning and system health monitoring, identifying trends and escalating anomalies.
• Provide database administration and maintenance across on-premises servers and cloud environments as required.
• Execute patching cycles, apply minor and major patches, and validate system stability post-deployment.
• Proactively address system errors and participate in after-hours activities as needed for business continuity.
• Contribute to clear, actionable weekly reports detailing support activities, accomplishments, and risk/issues.
• Collaborate within and across division teams and communicate effectively with both IT and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide complementary team technology coverage for MariaDB, MS Access, and additional PostgreSQL/MySQL environments as part of the team's collective technology stack responsibilities.
