The Kaukauna Area School District is located in the heart of Wisconsin''s Fox River Valley. We are a public school district serving approximately 4,000 students from early childhood through 12th grade across three counties, Outagamie, Calumet, and Brown in the northeast region of the state

As a District, we are actively searching for a committed and student-focused special education teacher to join our dynamic team of educators. Within our District, special education teachers provide specially designed instruction and continuously strive to create engaging and meaningful educational opportunities for students, while also fostering strong relationships with regular education staff, students, and families. Our teachers aspire to educate students to become lifelong learners, capable of overcoming life''s challenges and making positive contributions to society. Interested candidates for the position of Intellectual Disabilities Special Education Teacher should possess a Wisconsin DPI Licensure. The ideal candidate will align with the core values of our District and exhibit the following qualities:

  1. Expertise in Instruction and Instructional Strategies: The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of grade-level standards, proficiency in the Wisconsin Essential Elements and the ability to create and modify teaching materials and techniques to meet the unique needs of each student, closing achievement gaps effectively.

  2. Expertise in IEP Development and Implementation: The candidate should have experience in Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and implementation, ensuring that each student''s unique needs are addressed through the delivery of specially designed instruction as well as effective supplemental aids and services. The candidate serves as the primary case manager for students, conducting IEP meetings, and maintaining accurate special education documents.

  3. Strong Knowledge and Experience in Behavior Management: It is essential for the candidate to demonstrate a deep understanding of behavior management techniques and possess the ability to effectively manage challenging behaviors within the classroom, including neurodiverse learners and those with cognitive disabilities.

  4. Collaboration Communication Skills: The candidate should be a critical member of collaborative teams, actively participating in meetings, sharing ideas, and working cohesively with fellow educators, family, and community partners to provide the best possible learning environment for students. The candidate must collaborate closely with other Special Education staff members, and educational assistants to develop and implement effective strategies that support the academic and social-emotional growth of students with diverse learning needs.

  5. Strong Organization and Time Management Skills: The candidate should possess excellent organizational and time management skills to plan, implement, and monitor student progress effectively. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to effectively supervise the educational assistants assigned to the program.

  6. Ability to Create Inclusive and Welcoming Learning Environments: The candidate will showcase a strong capacity for fostering inclusive and inviting learning atmospheres, ensuring that all students, irrespective of their individual abilities or obstacles, experience a sense of belonging, encouragement, and opportunity for academic and social growth.
