Position Overview:
The Unified School District of Antigo is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Special Education Instructional Assistant to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the educational, behavioral, and social needs of students with disabilities across a variety of school settings. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with special education teachers, general education staff, and support personnel to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide instructional, behavioral, and social support to students with disabilities under the direction of licensed special education staff.
Assist students in classroom participation, organization, and task completion.
Support students with personal care needs as required, which may include toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance.
Supervise students during non-instructional times (recess, lunch, transitions, etc.).
Monitor and record student progress and behavior.
Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) accommodations and behavior intervention plans.
Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with federal and state regulations.
Attend professional development and training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must already have or be willing to obtain a Special Education Program Aide License from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive educational environment.
Must meet the Highly Qualified Standard as set by the Wisconsin Deptartment of Public Instruction (DPI). This requires proof of completeion of an assosicate degree, a minimum of 48 post-high school collage credits, or a willingness to complete additional training to obtain the Highly Qualified designation.
Preferred:
Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities.
Associate degree or completion of post-secondary coursework in education, child development, or a related field.
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
