We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Special Education Assistant to join The Waukesha Transition Academy (WTA), which prepares young adults, ages 18-21, to focus on independent living through community-based partnerships, and a meaningful life-based curriculum through authentic learning experiences building a bridge into adulthood. Students will engage in a variety of community-based learning activities allowing them to develop work readiness, social and independent living skills. To achieve this vision, WTA works collaboratively with staff, family, students, and community members.
This ages 18-21 transition program supports young adults with disabilities as they prepare for life beyond high school. Our program emphasizes daily living skills, employability, and vocational readiness through hands-on learning in both campus-based and community-based settings. This is an active role that involves daily movement, including walking with students through hallways, job sites, and community locations. Our program prioritizes authentic, real-world learning, and we are seeking candidates who enjoy being up and moving while supporting students in natural environments.
Applicants must be able to walk distances within the community, utilize public transportation, and drive district vans when necessary.
