About the opportunity
An established civil defense litigation firm is looking for an experienced Special Counsel to join its growing Civil Litigation practice in Raleigh. A seasoned litigator can step into an established practice here, serve a sophisticated client base, and help the firm keep growing. The environment is collaborative and collegial, and you'll build your practice alongside experienced trial attorneys.

What you'll do

• Independently manage a civil defense litigation caseload from start to finish
• Develop case strategy and serve as a primary client contact
• Handle every phase of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial
• Draft complex motions, briefs, and case evaluations
• Give clients practical, business-focused advice
• Help grow the firm's litigation practice

What you bring

• A J.D. from an accredited law school and an active North Carolina law license
• At least 5 years of civil litigation experience, with a strong preference for complex defense matters
• Strong courtroom and advocacy skills, including hearings, arbitrations, and trials
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Strong communication, client relationship, and organizational skills
• The ability to work well on a team while managing matters independently

• Construction litigation
• Products liability
• Professional liability
• Premises liability
• Commercial litigation

Salary commensurate with candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
