Software Engineer

This is a technical lead role with no direct reports you'll lead ~20+ engineers on project work, coordinate across globally distributed teams (Romania, Mexico, East Coast), and stay hands-on with testing throughout. We're seeking a hands-on Lead Software Test Engineer to technically guide cloud and embedded testing for a rapidly scaling cloud-connected medical device platform.

Position Summary
We're seeking a hands-on Lead Software Test Engineer to technically guide cloud and embedded testing for a rapidly scaling cloud-connected medical device platform. This is a technical lead role with no direct reports you'll lead ~20+ engineers on project work, coordinate across globally distributed teams (Romania, Mexico, East Coast), and stay hands-on with testing throughout. The cloud platform is scaling fast as the company adds new products and customers, and this role is being created for the first time to support that growth.

Responsibilities

• Technically lead cloud and embedded test activities across a distributed engineering team, without formal people-management responsibility
• Design, develop, and execute test plans, test strategies, and test cases spanning both Azure cloud services and embedded medical device software
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks and scripts in Python
• Test Microsoft Azure cloud applications, services, APIs, and infrastructure - this is the majority of day-to-day work
• Validate embedded software on connected medical devices, and execute end-to-end testing across cloud + embedded
• Run functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end test cycles
• Participate in and coordinate across daily standups with Romania, Mexico, and East Coast-based dev/QE teams
• Analyze defects, drive root cause analysis and resolution
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates
• Mentor and technically guide test engineers while remaining hands-on
• Ramp up over the first several months to fully understand the project and team before taking on delegation duties

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
• 10+ years in software testing / quality engineering, with prior experience technically leading a team
• Strong hands-on experience testing Microsoft Azure cloud applications/services
• Strong Python programming experience (required)
• Hands-on experience testing embedded software/devices
• Strong Agile/Scrum experience
• Comfortable working hands-on early, then delegating/coordinating as ramp-up completes
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across distributed, global teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud certification (Azure, AWS, or equivalent fundamentals matter more than which specific cloud)
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, REST APIs, microservices
• CI/CD / DevOps exposure
• Prior experience in a regulated industry (medical, aerospace, automotive) is a plus, not required this is trainable
