    Description

    This position is being reopened and looking for 1 position in the US. This was cancelled due to opening a position in India. That India position is still open, but sourcing has been slim, so the team is having both JPs open in tandum.
    Location: US
    Duration: 6 months
    Onsite in Raleigh, NC a couple times a week preferred.
    Interviews taking place onsite preferred, either in the tower or at a supplier location where the supplier can monitor.
    Senior Software Engineer
    CLIENT IT Developer Enablement Applications team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer contractor. This role is a unique hybrid of Full-Stack Development, DevOps, and Systems Engineering. We are looking for a Senior Engineer who can build intuitive developer interfaces while ensuring the underlying infrastructure is automated, secure, and scalable. And to help us create, modify, and modernize applications for our internal customers.
    Responsibilities
    Execute full software development life (SDLC) cycle within an agile environment.
    Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and highly available infrastructure systems to support business applications and services.

    Automate repetitive tasks and processes using scripting and configuration management tools (e.g., Python, JS/React , Bash, Terraform, Ansible, Ansible tower).

    Manage cloud-based infrastructure (OpenShift) and optimize resources for reliability, performance, and security.

    Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure uptime and reliability through proactive alerting, metrics, and incident response.

    CI/CD pipelines : Partner with development teams to build seamless deployment workflows via GitLab Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins, ensuring code moves to production safely and quickly.

    Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents, document findings, and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime.

    Continuously improve system architecture, deployment processes, and tooling to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.

    Ensure security best practices are applied across infrastructure, including access controls, network configurations, and compliance requirements.

    Effectively communicate to stakeholders and project team members to ensure proper visibility into development efforts

    Ability to respond to the customer's tickets and inquiries
    Monitor system health through advanced metrics and alerting; lead incident response efforts to maintain strict uptime SLAs.

    Required skills
    5+ years of experience with Linux Administration (RHEL, CentOS, etc)
    5+ years of experience delivering enterprise software applications
    5+ years in JS/React , Angular JS, Node.js & Ansible
    5+ years experience in Cloud Service development, compute engineering, automation, architecture and implementation on AWS.
    3+ years of experience in OpenShift.
    Expert in GitLab/GitHub CI/CD
    Strong RHEL / Linux SysAdmin skills
    Experience with Backstage plugins
    Advanced SQL & DB Coding.
    Experience with the full SDLC
    Experience with containers and container orchestration tools (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc)
    Advance knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tooling (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc)
    Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc)

    Manager Summary:
    o The role is focused on cloud deployment and requires experience with automation, specifically Ansible, and knowledge of GitLab/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines
    o a blended Software Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer position that involves both coding and application support, expecting the person to take complete ownership from development to deployment
    o Need for candidates to possess all the mentioned skills in the JD and be ready to start as quickly as possible
    o Currently, the cloud environment is exclusively AWS, though the organization may potentially integrate other cloud providers more than a year in the future

    Q/A
    The role looks like a combination of a full stack developer & Linux administration?
    - They won t need to be Linux admins, they should have general knowledge of administration skills so that when clusters are deployed, they can debug

    For front end technologies mentioned, Angular & React, is one used more than the other?
    - They re used 50/50
    - Ansible skills will also be preferred as the process will need to be automated

    What is the primary language on the backend?
    - Node & then Postgres is used to enter the data into the database
    - RDBMS skills will be major help; they don't need to start anything from scratch we already have an application it's already developed but we have few backlog tasks and support
    - we want the person to be helpful in coding and in supporting the whole thing

    Location Preference and Hybrid Schedule
    - Raleigh NC preferred to come into the Tower a couple times/week

    Extension & Long Term Goals
    - High chance of extension with contract to hire being a possibility as well. That said, only green card holders & US citizens should be considered

    Interview Process
    - To prevent AI use during interviews, Srini would like candidates to interview from Supplier office or even RHT if possible.
