Title: Software Engineer (Data)

Locations: Rockville, MD (Hybrid)

Contract: 6+ months contract with extension

Job Description:

This is a highly collaborative initiative involving multiple teams, including a gateway team, with downstream impact to surveillance capabilities.

Key Skills / Profile

• Strong software/application engineers with a solid understanding of data
• Strong algorithmic/problem-solving skills; ability to identify patterns and relationships across large datasets
• Java or Python
• Strong AWS knowledge
• AWS Glue
• Athena
• ETL/data processing
• Apache Spark
• Familiarity with Presto and/or Trino
• Experience with AWS big-data services
• Understanding of data connections, integrations, and data flows
• Experience using GenAI tools for code generation
• GenAI will also be incorporated into the solution itself, not just used as a developer productivity tool

Ideal Candidate: This is not purely a traditional data-engineering role. They want a strong application/software engineer who is comfortable working with data-intensive systems, algorithms, AWS, and distributed data technologies.
