Software Development Manager, Amazon Leo | Customer Experience

Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities beyond the reach of existing networks. The Customer Experience organization at Amazon Leo owns the customer-facing digital experiences enabling consumers, businesses, and enterprise partners to discover, purchase, and manage satellite connectivity services. Our surfaces span the consumer and business websites, the enterprise partner console, and the consumer mobile app. We sit at the intersection of commerce, service management, and connectivity, and we work closely with product, business, design, and backend teams to deliver a seamless end-to-end experience for every Amazon Leo customer.

We are seeking an innovative and customer-obsessed Software Development Manager to build and lead an engineering team at Amazon Leo. In this role, you"ll own the design and delivery of the customer-facing products that power Amazon Leo"s business across both consumer (B2C) and business (B2B) segments, building from the ground up in a fast-moving environment. You"ll lead through senior engineers and tech leads, foster a culture of rapid innovation and quick iteration where experimentation thrives, and grow both the team and its scope over time. This is a high-ownership role with a clear path to expand into broader organizational leadership, including developing and managing other managers as the team scales. Your vision and leadership will be crucial in creating durable, well-architected solutions that raise the bar on customer experience and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A passion for leveraging technology to solve complex, large-scale challenges
• A proven track record of leading engineering teams to deliver impactful, customer-facing products at scale
• Experience delivering products across consumer (B2C) and business (B2B) segments, or a strong ability to reason about the needs of both
• Experience developing engineers and leaders, and growing the scope and headcount of a team over time
• A strong technical background with the ability to guide architectural decisions
• Experience building cloud-native systems on AWS, including modern AI/ML integration patterns where applicable
• Excellent leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and developing engineering talent, including growing senior individual contributors and emerging leaders
• Strategic thinking to balance short-term needs with long-term vision
• Excitement about working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment to create something truly impactful

Export Control Requirement

• Aid in the design and delivery of AI-powered agent tooling, intelligent automation, and foundational infrastructure
• Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective
• Hire & develop a diverse team of software engineers passionate about revolutionizing satellite internet
• Help on-board and mentor new team members
• Drive technical architecture decisions and establish engineering best practices for scalable, reliable systems serving millions of customers globally
• Partner with product managers, UX designers, TPMs, and peer teams to design software systems and interfaces that fulfill customer needs

As a Software Development Manager at Amazon Leo Assisted Care, you"ll operate in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. Your typical day involves making key architectural decisions alongside Senior Software Development Engineers (Sr. SDEs) and Principal Engineers, collaborating cross-functionally with product managers (PMs), user experience (UX) leaders, SDM partners, and technical program managers (TPMs), and mentoring engineers as they tackle complex problems.
