Position Summary The Social Studies Instructional Coach provides leadership and direction at the school level by

supporting

the

design,

implementation,

coordination,

and

evaluation

of

a

comprehensive

social

studies

program.

The

Instructional

Coach

works

collaboratively

with

teachers

to

strengthen

instructional

practices,

develop

effective

strategies,

and

support

student

achievement,

with

a

particular

focus

on

students

performing

two

or

more

years

below

grade

level.

The

coach

assists

teachers

in

providing

targeted

instruction

through

"double

dip"

classes

and

supplemental

support

programs

during

and

beyond

the

school

day.

Under

the

supervision

of

the

building

principal

and

district

representative,

the

Instructional

Coach

will

provide

differentiated

strategies,

resources,

and

activities

designed

to

accelerate

student

learning

and

improve

overall

academic

performance.

Qualifications

Social

Studies

certification

(RX).

Master's

degree

required

(core

content

instruction

preferred.)

Effectively

instruction

based

and

content

standards

identified

by

the

State

of

Michigan

and

Pontiac

School

District.

Integrate

best

practices

using

grade

level

content

standards

established

Michigan

for

mathematics

in

dip"

and

during/beyond

the

school

supplemental

support

Demonstrate

a

high

level

of

skill

in

all

aspects

of

instruction

that

accelerates

the

learning

of

struggling

mathematics

students

and

promote

instruction

in

which

struggling

core

content

area

students

thrive:

instruction

that

is

explicit,

intensive,

accelerated

and

provides

ample

practice.

Scaffold

student

learning

so

they

are

required

to

read,

write

and

think

on

a

regular

basis

with

the

inclusion

of

before,

during

and

reading

strategies.

Use

ongoing

Coordinate
