The Safer Foundation is a social service provider to individuals with arrest and conviction records. Through a full range of services, including case management, educational instruction and advocacy, we focus on preparing individuals for the world of work by helping them find and keep productive and meaningful employment 

This position is a hybrid role requiring frequent in person attendance.

 

General Summary:

This role shapes Safer Foundation’s digital voice, public presence, and organizational storytelling. The position leads the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies including social media, email, website content, digital and print collateral, and mission-driven storytelling that elevate Safer Foundation’s brand, increase visibility, and build meaningful engagement with stakeholders, donors, partners, policymakers, and the communities we serve.

This role ensures consistent, equity-centered messaging across all channels and works collaboratively with Program teams, Development, Leadership, and external partners to highlight impact, amplify client success stories, and position Safer Foundation as a trusted leader in reentry, workforce development, and community advancement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Interface and Service

• Develop and lead multi-channel marketing strategies for programs, fundraising campaigns, events, recruitment, and organizational visibility.

• Provide communications leadership and serve as the central point for marketing strategy, brand management, and cross-department collaboration

• Lead the development of storytelling content capturing client impact, donor stories, event coverage, and organizational initiatives.

• Oversee all social media channels including strategy, content creation, scheduling, analytics, and paid advertising.

• Manage paid campaigns across Meta and LinkedIn for fundraising, program promotion, recruitment, and brand awareness.

• Oversee website management in WordPress, ensuring updated content, blogs, landing pages, and event pages.

• Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and maintain consistent visual identity across all materials.

• Create campaign briefs, toolkits, and timelines; coordinate cross-department deliverables; and oversee all campaign-related content and digital components.

• Supervise and mentor the Marketing and Communications intern, overseeing production of digital and print content and collateral.

• Support cross-functional team members with marketing requests and messaging guidance.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Stakeholder Outreach and Recruitment

• Partner with executive leaders, Development, and Programs to ensure messaging aligns with organizational priorities and mission-driven narratives.

• Lead communications strategy for major campaigns including Year-End Giving, Second Chance Month, the CARRE Conference, the Golf Outing, recruitment, and grant-related program outreach.

• Manage production timelines with printers, videographers, photographers, and other external partners.

• Partner with Development on donor stewardship communications, Giving Tuesday, appeals, sponsorship promotion, and event marketing.

• Collaborate with Program staff to highlight initiatives, client outcomes, and service impact.

 

Tracking, Document, and Reporting

• Manage content calendars, campaign timelines, and communication workflows.

• Write and edit blogs, email newsletters, website content, social media posts, campaign messaging, and collateral copy.

• Ensure all content reflects brand voice, equity-centered language, and trauma-informed communication practices when applicable.

• Monitor analytics and optimize campaigns based on performance data.

• Manage all organizational email campaigns through Constant Contact including design, content, segmentation, scheduling, reporting, and performance optimization.

• Use Google Analytics and other tools to track KPIs and provide insights to improve performance.

• Design high-quality collateral including flyers, postcards, one-pagers, reports, guides, social graphics, and campaign branding.

• Maintain organized systems for digital assets, content calendars, and project documentation.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with a focus on inclusive, mission-driven narratives.

• Mastery of social media platforms, analytics tools, and content planning systems.

• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic video editing.

• Understanding of digital trends and audience engagement best practices.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

• Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally.

• Commitment to Safer Foundation’s mission and communities served.

• Expertise in social media strategy, digital content creation, and paid advertising.

• Experience in print collateral development.

• Proficiency in Constant Contact, WordPress, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Hands-on experience and self sufficiency with Microsoft productivity tools, including Outlook (for email), Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and online collaboration tools (video conferencing, Zoom/Teams, messaging). 

• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret metrics and optimize strategies.

 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, sociology, or related field.

• 4 or more years of experience in marketing, communications, digital content, or nonprofit outreach.

• Experience managing multi-channel marketing and communications efforts.
