Service Technician

Clayton Services is searching for a Service Technician to join a growing industrial service organization in Houston. The Service Technician will perform hands-on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and related systems at customer locations and company facilities.

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $18.00 - $20.00/hour

Service Technician Responsibilities:

• Install, assemble, set up, and maintain industrial equipment and related components.
• Perform mechanical repairs on pumps, piping, fittings, hoses, valves, gauges, and other equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and determine appropriate repairs or component replacements.
• Complete routine inspections and preventative maintenance at customer locations.
• Assist with basic low-voltage equipment installation and troubleshooting.
• Use hand tools and power tools to complete installation, maintenance, and repair work.
• Prepare, clean, paint, and maintain equipment and work areas as needed.
• Load, unload, stage, and organize equipment, materials, parts, and supplies.
• Maintain accurate inventory of tools, parts, equipment, and materials.
• Operate forklifts, company vehicles, and material-handling equipment as needed.
• Complete work orders, inspection reports, and service documentation accurately.
• Travel to customer locations to perform scheduled and emergency service work.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Follow company safety procedures and applicable workplace, transportation, and environmental requirements.

Service Technician Skills and Abilities:

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Comfortable working with pumps, piping, fittings, valves, hoses, and similar mechanical components.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools.
• Basic knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Dependable, organized, safety-conscious, and self-motivated.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in confined areas when necessary.
• Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments when required.

Service Technician Education and Experience:

• Previous experience in mechanical service, industrial maintenance, equipment repair, plumbing, construction, or a similar hands-on environment preferred.
• Experience working with pumps, piping, mechanical equipment, or fluid-handling systems is a plus.
• Previous field service experience is a plus.
• Low-voltage electrical experience is preferred but not required.
• Forklift experience preferred or willingness to become certified.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
• Must be able to meet applicable pre-employment screening requirements.
