Job Overview:

The Senior Supervisory Counsel serves as a senior-level attorney providing high-level legal guidance to Central Office leadership and program staff. This position reports directly to the General Counsel and is responsible for overseeing and supervising the work of Senior Associate Counsels and Associate Counsels within the DCS Central Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing advanced legal advice on a wide range of issues affecting the Department.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating Central Office attorneys to ensure high-quality legal services.
  • Coordinating legal strategy and ensuring consistency in legal positions across programs.
  • Supporting the General Counsel on complex legal matters, policy development, and departmental initiatives.
  • Reviewing and advising on legislation, regulations, contracts, and agency actions.
  • Serving as a senior legal resource to Central Office staff and leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Active License to practice law in Tennessee is required.

Preferred Experience:

5+ years of relevant legal experience
