As we continue to acquire and expand, we are adding a Senior Property Accountant to own the accounting for a portfolio of assets. Job Details

This role owns the full accounting cycle for an assigned portfolio and serves as the primary accounting contact for property management.

Responsibilities
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for an assigned portfolio of properties
  • Prepare property-level financial statements with variance analysis against budget and prior year
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for cash, mortgage, escrow, and intercompany accounts
  • Maintain fixed asset, depreciation, capital expenditure, and construction in progress schedules
  • Perform CAM reconciliations, review tenant billings, and account for lease terms and escalations
  • Record acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and related purchase accounting entries
  • Prepare lender, investor, and partnership reporting including distribution and waterfall support
  • Lead the annual budget process for assigned properties in coordination with property management
  • Support the annual audit and tax preparation with schedules and documentation
  • Review the work of staff accountants and mentor junior team members

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience
  • Real estate or property accounting experience across the full close cycle
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, CAM reconciliations, and lease accounting
  • Proven ability to prepare property-level financial statements and variance analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with a real estate accounting system such as Yardi or MRI
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
