    Description

    Pylon has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our team. Work location is in Birmingham, AL or on projects in various locations based out of Birmingham, AL.

    Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

    • Review and finalize project business plans.
    • Assemble the project management team in coordination with division management.
    • Assemble the field supervision team in coordination with the General Superintendent.
    • Review and evaluate the prime contract with the project owner and division management.
    • Lead correspondence and communication with the Owner, Engineer, and Architect.
    • Procure and manage third-party consultants, including waterproofing, quality control, geotechnical, and other specialty consultants.
    • Manage subcontractor compliance and project risk mitigation plans.
    • Obtain builders’ risk, general liability insurance, bonding, and other required coverage in accordance with contract requirements.
    • Develop staging, logistics, and phasing plans for projects.
    • Work with the preconstruction department to transition projects from estimating to project management.
    • Oversee the issuance of subcontracts and purchase orders.
    • Work with the project management team, scheduling consultant, and field supervision to develop and maintain the project schedule. Monitor the overall project schedule on a monthly basis.
    • Oversee the submittal process.
    • Establish the project schedule of values, billing requirements, and payment application processes. Monitor accounts receivable.
    • Review and estimate project contract changes, including drawing revisions, ASIs, and contract change directives, and coordinate with project delivery requirements.
    • Issue change order requests for work outside the scope of the plans and specifications.
    • Oversee project cost allocation and the financial management process.
    • Review monthly financial projections through detailed monitoring of project costs.
    • Lead OAC progress meetings and review monthly project status reports.
    • Provide feedback to the estimating and preconstruction teams on projects currently under construction.
    • Assist with business development initiatives for select clients and market sectors.
    • Train, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Co-Op/Intern students.

    Education, Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent construction experience.
    • Minimum of 10 years of construction experience.
    • Strong understanding of all aspects of project management.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and competing priorities.
    • Proven leadership ability.
    • Working knowledge of construction management software and related technology.
    • Thorough understanding of project financial and accounting systems.
    • Proven ability to deliver projects in accordance with contract requirements, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
    • Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong technical and professional writing skills.
    • Strong conflict resolution skills and experience successfully resolving project-related disputes.
    • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to multitask, prioritize resources, and manage changing project demands.
