Senior Programmer
Location: Remote
Pay Range: $53.00 - $55.00 per hour
Job Type: Long Term Contract, W2
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Programmer to lead the design, development, implementation, and support of complex enterprise applications and system integrations. This role will work on highly visible projects involving API development, cloud engineering, database design, systems architecture, and software development while providing technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in enterprise application development, strong programming expertise in Python and/or Java, and a proven background leading technical teams and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of enterprise software applications.
- Analyze business and system requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and system-to-system integrations.
- Build and maintain applications using Python and/or Java.
- Develop and optimize relational database solutions utilizing SQL.
- Implement data mapping, transformation, and validation processes.
- Design and maintain cloud-based solutions utilizing AWS and/or Azure.
- Support Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.
- Utilize containerization technologies such as Docker to support application deployment.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, users, and technical teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, system architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in systems analysis, design, programming, and software development.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a technical lead or lead developer capacity.
- Strong programming experience with Python and/or Java.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and enterprise integrations.
- Strong SQL and relational database expertise.
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS and/or Azure.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience implementing DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, Git branching strategies, and release management.
- Experience with Docker or similar containerization technologies.
- Knowledge of software architecture, systems integration, application security, and performance optimization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 FHIR and HL7 v2 messaging.
- Experience working within regulated environments.
- Knowledge of database modeling, data warehousing, and transaction processing systems.
- Experience evaluating and implementing new software technologies and architectural solutions.
Additional Information:
- Department of Public Health (DPH) requires a separate LiveScan background screening.
- Remote candidates will be required to complete a remote LiveScan process.
- Candidates must be able to effectively communicate technical concepts, prepare documentation, and collaborate across teams.
