Senior Principal Software Engineer (On-site)

HEPCO Inc. is seeking a talented Senior Principal Software Engineer for our client. The selected candidate will help develop advanced solutions in communications, navigation, and electronic warfare for defense-related customers.

In this role, you will collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Test engineers throughout requirements development, design, development, integration, and testing. You will also prepare design and project artifacts for use within complex programs or across multiple programs in accordance with established processes.

This position provides opportunities to leverage current technologies, incorporate new technologies, and serve as a leader within the engineering organization.

• Participate in requirements development, software design, development, integration, and testing.
• Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, and Test engineers as an integrated member of the engineering team.
• Develop embedded and application software using C++.
• Apply object-oriented design and implementation principles.
• Perform software testing, validation, and verification activities.
• Prepare design and project artifacts in accordance with established engineering processes.
• Solve complex technical problems and translate solutions into functional software.
• Support real-time embedded software development.
• Provide technical leadership within the engineering organization.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with embedded and/or application software development using C++.
• Strong foundation in object-oriented design and implementation principles.
• Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools.
• Experience performing software testing, validation, and verification.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with real-time embedded development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Active DoD Secret-level security clearance.

Required Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:

• Bachelor’s degree with at least eight years of relevant experience.
• Master’s degree with at least six years of relevant experience.
• Ph.D. with at least four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Full software development life-cycle experience.
• Experience with C#, Python, or Java.
• Experience with Green Hills, VxWorks, Windows, or Linux operating systems.
• Experience with continuous integration tools.
• Experience with Git, Jira, and Confluence.
• Agile development experience.
• Experience designing and/or implementing software algorithms.

Pay Range: $72.00 - $77.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
