    Description

Amazon Advertising is one of Amazon's fastest growing businesses, delivering hundreds of billions of ad impressions across 50+ countries to help advertisers reach customers wherever they shop, stream, and browse. Within Amazon Ads, the Creative Experience (CRX) and Retail Ad Services (RAS) organizations own the systems and programs that determine what ad creatives consumers see, how those creatives are assembled in real time, and how retail advertising demand reaches audiences at global scale.

We are looking for a Sr. Manager, Technical Program Management to lead a team of TPMs who drive execution across CRX and RAS. You will own the program management function for two interconnected organizations: CRX, which builds the AI-powered creative generation, optimization, and serving systems behind every display, video, and audio ad rendered across Amazon surfaces; and RAS, which manages the retailer advertising platform enabling first-party and third-party demand to flow through Amazon's ad exchange infrastructure.

In this role, you will manage a team of TPMs spanning four program areas: Advertiser Experience (AX), Universal Creative (UC), Creative Brain (CB), and Retail Ad Services (RAS). Your team will drive multi-quarter programs across generative AI creative pipelines, real-time ad assembly systems, multi-armed bandit optimization frameworks, and retailer advertising integrations. You will partner directly with engineering directors, principal engineers, applied scientists, and product leaders to translate product vision into executable technical roadmaps, and you will represent the TPM function in leadership reviews .

This is not a coordination role. The right candidate will have deep technical judgment, understand distributed systems and ML inference pipelines, and bring the ability to make independent trade-off decisions in design reviews. You will own the mechanisms that keep these organizations operating at high velocity: pipeline health, deployment cadence, incident response posture, and cross-team dependency resolution. You will set the standard for how your TPMs operate, what they deliver, and how they develop.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Build, manage, and develop a team of Technical Program Managers across CRX and RAS program areas
    • Drive cross-organizational programs that touch ad serving infrastructure, generative AI systems (LLM-based prompt pipelines, diffusion models, video assembly), multi-armed bandit selection frameworks, and demand-side platform integrations
    • Establish and maintain mechanisms for operational excellence across both organizations
    • Partner with engineering leadership (SDMs, PEs) to define technical roadmaps, identify architectural risks, and ensure that program milestones align with system capacity and dependencies
    • Coach and develop TPMs at multiple levels, including direct mentorship of senior individual contributors preparing for principal-level promotion

    A day in the life

You start your morning reviewing program metrics and narratives prepared by your team leads, identifying areas that need your attention or escalation. Mid-morning, you join a cross-functional review with engineering and product leaders to align on a critical initiative"s milestones and resolve blockers. After lunch, you hold a one-on-one coaching session with one of your direct reports, discussing their team"s delivery challenges and career development goals. Later, you facilitate a planning session where your team works backward from customer needs to define next quarter"s priorities and resourcing strategy.

    About the team

Creative Experience (CRX) CRX is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of ad creative on Amazon - from generation through optimization to final rendering at the point of impression. The organization consists of three core programs:

Advertiser Experience (AX) builds the tools and interfaces advertisers use to create, manage, and preview creatives within the Amazon DSP.

Universal Creative (UC) owns the asset lifecycle for all stages of assets, creatives, and the relationships of those to campaigns. It is the library for the creatives services.

Creative Brain (CB) is the generative AI engine for ad creative. CB uses multi-step LLM prompt chains, image diffusion models, and video generation systems to produce ad creatives from product catalog data.

Retail Ad Services (RAS) RAS is responsible for the platform and services that enable retail advertising demand to reach consumers through Amazon's ad exchange infrastructure. RAS manages the integration layer between Amazon's retail advertising products (Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display) and the serving infrastructure that delivers ads across Amazon-owned and operated properties as well as third-party publisher inventory.

So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
