Senior Manager - Direct Tax - The Western Suburbs

Lead Us Direct Tax Professional

We are seeking an experienced tax professional to lead the U.S. Direct Tax function within a complex international industrials business environment. This role will be responsible for overseeing direct tax compliance, tax accounting, audit management and business partnering activities across multiple U.S. entities. The successful candidate will work closely with finance leadership, external advisors and internal business stakeholders to ensure compliance while supporting broader strategic initiatives. Prep work will be completed by consultants, who are coordinated by this role. Main duties and responsibilities include:

• Oversee federal and state corporate income tax compliance through external service providers.
• Manage quarterly and annual tax provision processes and related reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and support financial statement reporting.
• Lead tax audits and manage interactions with tax authorities.
• Partner with business and finance teams to provide practical tax guidance and support.
• Support international tax matters impacting U.S. operations.
• Oversee tax technology platforms, registrations and governance activities.
• Participate in acquisition due diligence and other strategic projects.
• Drive process improvement initiatives and support technology-enabled efficiencies.
• Mentor and develop team members while fostering strong cross-functional relationships.

In return for a competitive remuneration package, the successful candidate will possess the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• CPA, Master's degree in Taxation or equivalent professional qualification preferred
• Approximately 6-10+ years of tax experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state corporate income tax.
• Experience managing outsourced compliance providers and external advisors.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a complex business environment.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Previous experience within public accounting, industry, or a combination of both is highly desirable.
