Senior Java Developer - Vice President

Citi is looking for a Senior Java Developer to take lead ownership of complex application systems across a global technology environment. In this role, you will design, build, and drive enterprise-grade software solutions that directly support business goals, working alongside cross-functional teams to shape how applications are architected, developed, and delivered. This is a senior-level opportunity for a hands-on engineer who also brings the technical leadership to guide others and influence how software is built at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust Java-based applications and RESTful APIs that meet enterprise performance and reliability standards.
• Lead technical analysis of complex business and system processes, translating findings into scalable software solutions and architecture improvements.
• Define and enforce development standards across coding, testing, debugging, and deployment to maintain consistent engineering quality.
• Collaborate with technology and business teams to identify system enhancements that support new products and process improvements.
• Ensure application designs align with the broader architecture blueprint, integrating infrastructure and platform considerations into every build decision.
• Mentor and coach mid-level developers and analysts, providing technical direction and distributing work effectively across the team.
• Apply sound judgement when evaluating technical risk, ensuring solutions are compliant, secure, and aligned with applicable standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Hands-on Java development expertise, including building and consuming RESTful APIs using Spring or comparable frameworks.
• Practical experience with relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle, SQL, and MongoDB.
• Cloud platform experience using OpenShift and Kubernetes, with working knowledge of build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
• Experience with messaging systems including Apache Kafka and IBM MQ for event-driven application architecture.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling, including Jenkins and Grafana.
• Solid grasp of software development lifecycle principles and Agile delivery practices.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing shifting priorities and delivering under tight timelines.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in applications development or systems analysis, with a track record of delivering complex software projects.
• Subject matter expertise in at least one core area of applications development, such as backend architecture, cloud infrastructure, or API design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project delivery end-to-end, from planning through implementation.
• Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
• Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for varied audiences.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$125,760.00 - $188,640.00
