Position Summary

The Senior Implementation Consultant, Client Benefits (Senior BIC) serves as a highly experienced subject matter expert responsible for leading complex benefit implementations and ensuring an exceptional client experience. In addition to performing all responsibilities of the Implementation Consultant, Client Benefits role, the Senior BIC provides mentorship and guidance to team members, supports process improvement initiatives, and is frequently assigned to clients with higher levels of complexity, risk, or customization needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the benefit implementation process for new clients from project initiation through completion, ensuring a seamless, compliant, and timely transition to services.
  • Serve as the primary benefits point of contact for clients during the implementation phase, addressing questions, managing expectations, and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Provide expert guidance on benefit configuration, system setup, eligibility rules, carrier connections, and implementation best practices.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Client Relations, Payroll, Integrations, and other internal partners to ensure alignment and successful execution.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on employee benefits, benefit administration processes, system functionality, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Manage multiple implementations simultaneously while prioritizing workload, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accuracy and organization.
  • Perform detailed data review and quality control to validate setup accuracy, compliance, and readiness for go-live.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate risks, dependencies, and gaps throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Lead complex, high-risk, or high-difficulty client implementations that require advanced knowledge, customization, or coordination.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for complex client or system issues encountered during the implementation phase.
  • Mentor and support Benefit Implementation Consultants by sharing knowledge, assisting with troubleshooting, and providing guidance on complex benefit, system, or regulatory scenarios.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of implementation methodologies, tools, templates, and training materials.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and system enhancements and apply that knowledge to client implementations and internal guidance.
  • Support department initiatives, special projects, pilots, integrations, acquisitions, and changemanagement efforts as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other related benefit offerings.
  • Strong understanding of benefit implementation and administration processes, including system configuration, eligibility rules, carrier connections, and workflow best practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations related to benefit administration and compliance.
  • Proficiency in HR and benefits administration systems and tools, specifically PrismHR.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex benefit, system, and regulatory concepts to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, establish trust, and maintain effective working relationships with clients and cross-functional partners.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex or ambiguous situations and recommend effective, compliant solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong quality-control skills to ensure accuracy, completeness, and readiness throughout the implementation process.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, re-prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent implementations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in escalated, high-pressure, or emotionally sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support peers by sharing knowledge, best practices, and problem-solving approaches.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance individual client responsibilities while supporting overall team needs.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, contribute positively to team dynamics, and promote consistent implementation practices.
  • Consistent demonstration of sound judgment, accountability, professionalism, and discretion.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in benefit implementation, benefit administration, or a closely related field.
  • High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of experience, education, certifications, or training required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 5 years related experience AND related certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex or large-scale benefit implementations.
  • Proficiency in HR software and tools, specifically PrismHR.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and related programs.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations related to benefit administration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple implementation projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Required Licenses And/Or Certifications

Industry certification not required but preferred (e.g., FPC, CPP, PHR, SHRM-CP, PMP, or similar).
