The Windows and Devices (W+D) business consists of the Windows Device Licensing and the Surface first party businesses, which account for roughly $20B of revenue each year. Windows is of critical strategic importance to Microsoft, as it is the bedrock upon which all of Microsoft’s Consumer (Search, Office and Gaming) and Commercial (Data & AI, Infrastructure, Modern Work, Biz apps) businesses reside. The fast-paced and dynamic PC (personal computer) market environment presents many exciting challenges for the team to tackle and deliver creative solutions. And with the advent of AI (artificial intelligence) PCs and Neural Processing Unit (NPU), the world of personal computing will never be the same.

As a Senior Finance Manager, Windows and Devices Investments, you will have the opportunity to deliver impact across multiple areas ranging from investments planning, channel incentives, investment strategy, and investment performance storytelling. This role will interface across a broad intersection of business partners, including Marketing, Category Management, Sales, Data Science, and Investments. The W+D Finance Team is looking for someone to leverage solid analytical skills, business acumen, and thought leadership to partner with Sales and Marketing to drive our strategy and land impact for the broader W+D organization. Being comfortable operating in an ambiguous and matrixed environment, as well as leveraging a track record of influencing business partner actions to deliver business outcomes will be beneficial in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Drive W+D investments planning and performance lookbacks through detailed analysis, modeling and partnering with business stakeholders. 
  • Systems and structured thinker with ability to land investment frameworks that break the mold of traditional business unit alignment and consider One Microsoft approach across entire stack of products and services. 
  • Develop and leverage relationships with sales and category teams that operate in a dynamic market/competitive environment. Solve business issues to bolster sales, optimize share performance, improve ROI (Return on Investment), and manage business risk through corrective actions in a matrixed environment. 
  • Ability to land tough messages grounded in data with business partners and drive alignment on remediation actions. 
  • Excel in financial modelling and sensitivity analysis. Improve efficiency and effectiveness of core finance activities through enhanced reporting, automation, process excellence, and detailed analytics. 
  • Solid data structure background and ability to scope and implement advanced data gathering techniques to improve investment performance insight and leverage AI workflows. 
  • Maintain working knowledge of Microsoft financial systems, policies, and processes to evaluate potential impacts of changes, as well as drive improvements in efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • 1+ year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry.
  • Collaboration, teamwork, and business partnership skills with ability to build consensus and facilitate decision making. 
  • Adept financial analysis and modeling skills; A hands-on approach and being comfortable with rolling up their sleeves and diving in.
  • Passion for quality work and demonstrated drive; Action oriented with solid leaning to getting things done with quality and speed. 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize across multiple workstreams with meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to handle diverse stakeholders with a high degree of ambiguity, bring partners along in thought leadership and finance agenda, and be relentless and think outside the box. 
  • Proven track record of influencing the business through initiative and bringing proactive financial analysis and insight. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences, including members of management or leadership.
  • Knowledge of industry (preferred not mandatory).

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
