Job Details

This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role for an experienced facilities professional. You will own facilities operations for the organization's owned and leased properties, including a headquarters building of about 88,000 square feet. You will lead internal staff and third-party contractors and work with teams across the organization to keep workplaces safe, reliable, cost-effective, and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead maintenance, safety, security, and day-to-day facilities operations for the headquarters and leased properties
Monitor commercial leases and work with real estate brokers to evaluate options and negotiate new leases, renewals, and extensions
Develop and manage annual preventive maintenance schedules for owned and leased properties
Manage landlord, vendor, and contractor relationships, ensuring service quality, accountability, and contract compliance
Manage facilities budgets, operating expenses, priorities, and improvement projects
Supervise facilities employees and contractors, including workload planning, coaching, and performance management
Inspect buildings and grounds, prioritize maintenance needs, and keep accurate records of repairs, projects, and vendor performance
Work with departments across a 400+ person organization and support special projects as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
10+ years of facilities, property management, or workplace operations experience
5+ years of management experience overseeing employees, vendors, or contractors
Experience with owned and leased properties, preventive maintenance programs, vendor contracts, budgets, and facilities projects
Strong decision-making, project management, and relationship-building skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP or business application experience preferred
Able to work a flexible schedule and travel occasionally

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree, MBA, or facilities/property management certification (e.g., CFM, FMP, RPA)
15+ years of facilities experience and 10+ years of management experience
Experience supporting a multi-site or national organization

Work Schedule: Fully onsite, 5 days per week. Candidates must live within 30 commuting miles of the Northern Virginia headquarters.
