The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA is seeking an accomplished, relationship-driven executive to lead one of our largest and most impactful Family Center portfolios. The Senior Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for a dynamic portfolio that currently includes the South Tampa Family YMCA and Central City/Downtown YMCA, overseeing more than $7.5 million in annual revenue, $400,000+ in Annual Giving, and a broad range of programs that strengthen individuals, families, and communities every day.

This role offers the rare opportunity to lead from a position of strength. The assigned centers are supported by an experienced and highly capable leadership team, including an Associate Executive Director, three Operations Directors, and multiple Program, Aquatics, Membership, and Wellness directors in addition to over 250 program team members. The foundation is strong, allowing the next executive to focus on strategic growth, community impact, philanthropy, and leadership development.

Even more exciting, the successful candidate will play a key role in one of the most transformative periods in Tampa YMCA history. This executive will serve as a member of the leadership team helping guide the development of a new 50,000-square-foot YMCA facility, while also supporting multiple major capital improvement and renovation projects across the association.

Education/ Experience Required:

  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university in business, non-profit management or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in business operations, growth and development, community involvement, relationship building, program/business line development, staff selection, supervision and development, and day-to-day enterprise management preferred.
  • Prior experience in facility and/or program area management preferred.
  • Supervision of large Y operations (Associate Executive, Executive, or Operations Director Level) that exceeds $3M in operating revenue and 3,500 membership units (households) preferred (preference will be given to candidates with Y operational experience)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and ability influence other through messaging that supports the reach and impact of the Y
  • Demonstrated skills in fiscal management and financial development (including annual campaign, capital, and/or planned giving).
  • Prior experience supporting large community involvement (example hosting community dinners and participating in festival activities).
  • Highly motivated and entrepreneurial with the consistent ability to meet or exceed goals, cultivate and retain members, volunteers and program participants.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and develop effective relationships with members, volunteers, program prospects and others to achieve goals.
  • Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision-making.
  • Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
  • Proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, customer service/tracking applications) with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.

Certifications/Trainings Required:

  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR Pro, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration.
  • Maintain other required certifications as directed by supervisor, regulatory / statutory agencies
  • Must maintain a drivers license and driving record that complies with Y insurance standards and Y policies.
