Senior Director of Operations, Perioperative Services (RN)

Our client, a leading healthcare organization renowned for its comprehensive perioperative services and commitment to clinical excellence, is hiring a Senior Director of Operations, Perioperative Services (RN). This critical leadership role offers a strategic and operational leadership opportunity within a highly visible perioperative environment. The Senior Director will oversee perioperative operations across multiple locations, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while optimizing operational performance, staff engagement, and financial stewardship. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in guiding the organization’s growth, efficiency, and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall operational and administrative leadership for perioperative services, including the main hospital operating room, outpatient OR, PACU, pre-op services, and associated teams.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of nursing, clinical, and operational professionals.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing leadership, and executive stakeholders to establish effective workflows and standards.
• Oversee daily OR operations, including staffing, scheduling, patient flow, case volume, and throughput, ensuring optimal utilization and efficiency.
• Develop, monitor, and improve operational metrics, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Manage departmental budgets, staffing models, capital projects, and operational resources, with a focus on cost control and productivity enhancements.
• Lead change initiatives and operational improvement projects to support organizational growth and strategic objectives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous performance improvement.
• Build strong relationships with surgical teams and key strategic partners to align clinical and operational priorities.

Requirements

• Current, active RN license in the State of Connecticut.
• Minimum Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field; Doctorate preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience within perioperative or operating room environments.
• Demonstrated success in managing multidisciplinary teams in complex perioperative settings.
• Strong understanding of surgical workflows, staffing, scheduling, throughput, and safety/quality standards.
• Proven ability to lead operational change, enhance performance, and manage substantial budgets.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and financial skills.
• Ability to navigate organizational relationships effectively, foster collaboration, and hold teams accountable.
• Willingness for onsite leadership presence, engaging directly with staff and stakeholders.
• Additional skills such as experience with staffing optimization, regulatory compliance, and large-scale project management are advantageous.
