How you'll make an impact in this role
Serve as the primary medication safety subject matter expert and Chair of the Medication Safety Expert Review Panel (ERP), leading health-system-wide safety initiatives, strategic planning, budgeting, and policy development.
Analyze medication-use errors, adverse drug reactions, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) data to design and implement high-leverage error-reduction strategies, specifically targeting drug shortages, look-alike sound-alike (LASA) risks, and drug diversion.
Oversee the technical integration, installation, and optimization of pharmacy information systems and automation technologies to enhance system-wide medication safety workflows.
Ensure total adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws and regulatory standards while driving High-Reliability Organization (HRO) principles to foster an open culture of safety and transparent communication.
Partner with internal safety committees, interdisciplinary leadership, and external regulatory bodiesâincluding the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) and the FDA MedWatch programâto align on industry best practices.
