About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Property / Development Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations, job costing, and financial reporting across our growing real estate portfolio. In this role, you will work closely with asset managers, project teams, and senior leadership to ensure accurate tracking of both operational property finances and ground-up or value-add development projects.

Key Responsibilities

Property Accounting

• Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned commercial/residential properties.
• Prepare accurate monthly financial packages, budget-to-actual variance analysis, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, tenant billing, and lease administration updates.
• Handle year-end CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and assist with tax preparation/audits.

Development & Construction Accounting

• Track job costs, budget revisions, and loan draw requests for ongoing development projects.
• Process vendor pay applications, lien waivers, and retention tracking.
• Interface with general contractors, project managers, and lenders to monitor capital expenditure budgets.
• Maintain development schedules and capitalized interest calculations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years of combined experience in property accounting and development/construction accounting.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard real estate software (Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or Procore) and advanced Excel capabilities.
• Knowledge: Solid understanding of GAAP, job-costing principles, lease terms, and capital draw processes.
• Key Traits: Strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple project deadlines independently.
