Description

Senior Design-Build Civil Project Manager (PE required)

Seattle, WA

Our client has a long-standing presence in the Seattle market and they’re looking for a Senior Design-Build Civil Project Manager (15+ years of experience) who can help build on that foundation and expand the company’s reach across key markets.

This is an opportunity to work on high-profile transportation and civil infrastructure projects with a nationally recognized firm that combines strong technical expertise with innovative project delivery. The right person will bring extensive experience leading large, complex design-build projects and working across both engineering and construction teams.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply inherit projects and keep them moving. You’ll make an immediate impact by helping shape pursuits, open doors to new opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and lead projects from early design and planning through construction and closeout.

You’ll work directly with owners and key stakeholders while driving decisions around scope, schedule, budget, constructability, and risk. The company already has deep local roots, a strong national reputation, and the technical capabilities to deliver. Now, they’re looking for a leader who understands the Seattle market, builds trust with clients and teams, and is excited to help drive the next phase of growth.

Senior Project Manager Responsibilities

  • Lead complex civil infrastructure projects from preconstruction and design through construction and closeout.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and overall project performance.
  • Lead and coordinate integrated design-build teams, including engineers, contractors, consultants, and specialty subcontractors.
  • Establish project goals, milestones, deliverables, and performance expectations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee design coordination and ensure engineering solutions align with project requirements, constructability, cost, and schedule.
  • Manage contracts, change orders, negotiations, project documentation, and closeout activities.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, codes, and industry standards.
  • Facilitate communication between owners, design teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve technical, contractual, and operational challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular updates on progress, budget, schedule, risks, and key deliverables.
  • Apply industry best practices in project management, estimating, scheduling, quality control, and contract administration.
  • Support proposal development, client relationships, and business development efforts as needed.

Senior Project Manager Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State required.
  • 15+ years of experience managing complex civil construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing design-build projects or other alternative delivery methods.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction practices, project controls, and contract administration.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with owners, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management/scheduling software.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Experience with project budgeting, estimating, scheduling, change management, and contract closeout.

Senior Project Manager Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale transportation, infrastructure, rail, transit, or other public works projects.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build, CM/GC, or P3.
  • PE licensure in additional states such as California, Nevada, or Florida.
  • Experience supporting business development, proposals, or client pursuits.
  • Familiarity with civil design and project management software.
  • Experience working with public agencies and government-funded infrastructure projects.
