    Description

The Global MHE Components team within Amazon"s Global Procurement Organization (GPO) secures the supplier technology, solutions, and capacity required to deliver the highly automated FC technology road-map. Our team also directs global MHE equipment and component acquisition and supplier development for customer fulfillment (GCF), specialty fulfillment (GSF), and transportation (ATS) operations. These solutions require continuous engineering development, emerging and disruptive technology innovations, and long-term supplier partnerships.

We are seeking an industry-proven and detail-oriented Senior Category Manager to fill a dual-scope role: (1) qualifying, developing, and managing key MHE component suppliers across Amazon"s fulfillment network, and (2) serving as the dedicated strategic sourcing execution partner for Ring"s Smart TDR installation program and PERCH program. This role sits within GPO"s MHE Components team and provides end-to-end procurement leadership across both traditional MHE sourcing and Ring"s emerging device deployment programs.

The successful candidate is a natural self-starter with prior experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, contract manufacturing, and system supplier and/or technology sourcing. They must be agile with the ability to quickly adapt strategies, plans, and solutions in response to dynamic business requirements. They must also be comfortable interfacing with and driving cross-functional teams across both GPO and Ring organizations at all levels of the organization. Open minds, customer focus, innovation empowerment, advanced technologies, team-first mindset, and individual drive enable our Global Components team to deliver the most advanced fulfillment solutions in the world.

    Key job responsibilities

    MHE Components Sourcing:

    • Qualify, develop, and manage key MHE component suppliers in partnership with Worldwide and Regional Procurement teams
    • Build strategic supplier relationships to reduce cost, compress project lifecycles, and improve capital efficiencies
    • Drive supplier continuous improvement, global supplier metrics, and Cost Out programs to optimize CapEx spend
    • Support global supplier selection, development, and managed expansion of the supplier base

Ring Smart TDR Execution & PERCH Sourcing:

    • Lead sourcing for Smart TDR retrofit and greenfield installations: installer development, selection, RFP execution, and contracting for 2027/2028 deployment cycles
    • Ensure installer capacity and continuity of supply across multi-site deployment schedules
    • Fulfill sourcing for Ring"s PERCH program, addressing broader hardware sourcing needs with GPO best practices
    • Develop supplier strategies for novel technology categories, including LCC supplier identification and qualification

    Cross-Org Partnership & Operational Excellence:

    • Serve as the primary GPO sourcing interface within Ring"s program structure; align sourcing strategies with deployment roadmaps
    • Leverage GPO supplier networks, negotiation frameworks, and sourcing methodologies to deliver commercial outcomes for Ring
    • Lead special projects to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, and accelerate program delivery
    • Communicate strategy, execution status, and results to senior leadership across GPO and Ring

    A day in the life

    • High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously across MHE programs and Ring initiatives
    • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically - balancing long-term supplier development with near-term project and program delivery deadlines
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to influence, negotiate, and develop relationships across organizational boundaries
    • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills - using data and metrics to build business cases, evaluate suppliers, and drive commercial decisions
    • Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding our business, projects, solution designs, technology innovations, and opportunities to improve the effectiveness of our capital equipment procurement processes
    • Comfort operating with significant autonomy as an embedded resource within a customer program team, while maintaining alignment with GPO standards and practices

    About the team

Our team strives to be a single point of contact for procurement support to our stakeholders. We are finding ways to move faster and more efficiently than ever before to deliver upgrades to capacity and associate experience across Amazon"s Operations network. This role also represents our cross-organizational partnership model - embedding dedicated GPO sourcing talent directly into customer program teams to deliver procurement excellence at the speed their deployment timelines demand. We partner with Ring to support the Smart TDR and PERCH programs, bringing GPO"s supplier networks, commercial leverage, and sourcing methodologies to bear on emerging technology deployment categories.

Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
