Our team partners across Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Warehouse, Finance, and Client Services to ensure materials are available when needed to support critical production schedules.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer/Planner to take ownership of procurement, material planning, supplier management, and inventory coordination within our manufacturing operation.

Job Details

Reporting to the Executive Director of Manufacturing & Supply Chain, the Senior Buyer/Planner will coordinate procurement and material planning activities to ensure the timely availability of raw materials, components, packaging materials, consumables, and other supplies required for GMP drug product manufacturing.

This individual will develop purchasing and material plans based on production schedules, inventory levels, supplier lead times, client requirements, and forecasted demand.

You will also serve as a key liaison between Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse, Finance, Engineering, Project Management, and Client Services to identify material risks before they impact production.

NetSuite experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain purchasing and material requirements plans aligned with production schedules and forecasted demand.
• Create an integrated planning process connecting business demand, manufacturing requirements, and supply chain capacity.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, service, availability, reliability, and delivery performance.
• Create and manage purchase orders and monitor supplier delivery commitments.
• Negotiate and renegotiate supplier pricing, contracts, and commercial terms.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance.
• Coordinate procurement of raw materials, components, packaging materials, consumables, and manufacturing supplies.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Microbiology/Analytical, Warehouse, Finance, Engineering, and Project Management.
• Develop accurate demand forecasts and production/material plans.
• Monitor inventory levels, material flow, cycle counts, expiration dates, production orders, and inventory accuracy.
• Identify potential shortages, supply constraints, and delivery risks and proactively develop solutions.
• Work with Quality Assurance on supplier qualification and incoming material requirements.
• Address defective or unacceptable materials with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Support GMP change controls, deviations, and CAPAs related to supply chain and manufacturing activities.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, minimize waste, and strengthen supply-chain processes.
• Develop short- and long-range procurement plans.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing and supply chain operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience within Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, Planning, or related functions within Life Sciences.
• Demonstrated experience with purchasing, procurement, material planning, and vendor management.
• NetSuite experience required.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
• Understanding of inventory management, production planning, supplier management, and material requirements.
• Experience operating within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of GMP requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related discipline.
• Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
• CDMO experience.
• Aseptic manufacturing experience.
• Experience purchasing materials used in GMP drug product manufacturing.
• Experience with supplier qualification and quality-related processes.
• Experience with change controls, deviations, and CAPAs.
