Lead a High-Performing Benefits Team While Delivering Exceptional Client Service
CoVerica is seeking an experienced Senior Benefits Account Manager to serve as a senior-level resource for our Benefits team while helping lead, mentor, and develop Benefits Account Managers. This role combines hands-on employee benefits account management, producer support, client service, operational oversight, and team leadership.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned employee benefits professional who understands the complexities of the industry, builds strong relationships with clients and producers, and enjoys helping others succeed. This person will serve as a key liaison between the Benefits Account Management team, Producers, clients, carriers, vendors, and agency leadership.

What You'll Do
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, coaching, and support to Benefits Account Managers.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
- Serve as a senior resource for complex client service issues, escalations, and problem-solving.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and professional development of Benefits Account Managers.
- Monitor team workloads and resource allocation to help ensure service standards and client expectations are consistently met.
- Conduct quarterly performance and development conversations focused on KPIs, productivity, processes, and professional growth.
- Help team members develop best practices and continuously improve their technical and client service skills.
Client Relationship & Account Management
- Serve as a senior-level resource for employer clients regarding health and employee benefits inquiries, claims, coverage, and service needs.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients and key decision-makers.
- Provide technical benefits support to clients and Producers.
- Help resolve complex client issues and ensure concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Monitor client satisfaction and proactively identify opportunities to improve service and retention.
- Support the team in delivering consistent, high-quality service throughout the client lifecycle.
Producer Partnership & Business Development Support
- Serve as a primary liaison between Benefits Account Managers and Benefits Producers.
- Build strong working relationships with Producers to ensure alignment on client needs and expectations.
- Support Producers with new business quoting, carrier and vendor interactions, submissions, and account strategy.
- Assist with renewal planning and marketing of new and renewal accounts.
- Help Producers retain existing business and identify opportunities for account expansion and growth.
- Participate in regular discussions regarding client strategy, renewal planning, service performance, and business development opportunities.
Benefits Administration & Technical Support
- Oversee and support accurate benefits enrollment and eligibility information within HRIS and benefits administration systems.
- Conduct and oversee data audits and reconciliations to maintain data integrity, accuracy, and compliance.
- Support open enrollment administration, testing, communications, and reporting.
- Assist with enrollments, eligibility updates, billing, carrier payments, and policy changes.
- Coordinate with carriers, vendors, independent TPAs, and internal teams to resolve issues and support client needs.
- Complete testing related to benefits processes, reporting functionality, system updates, enhancements, and provider implementations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of employee benefits compliance requirements and industry practices.
Operational Excellence
- Develop and maintain workflows, processes, and best practices that improve team efficiency and client service.
- Monitor team productivity, service metrics, quality standards, and compliance with established procedures.
- Identify trends and recommend process improvements that enhance the client and employee experience.
- Support quality assurance initiatives and documentation standards.
- Partner with agency leadership on strategic initiatives, departmental goals, organizational changes, and communications.
- Communicate team performance, operational challenges, client trends, and development opportunities to leadership.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of employee benefits experience; 10+ years preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits products, carrier relationships, and industry practices.
- Experience working with benefits Producers and sales teams.
- Strong understanding of client service, renewals, and benefits administration.
- Life & Health Insurance License or ability to obtain and maintain one.
- Strong knowledge of benefits compliance requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with agency management, CRM, and benefits administration systems.
Preferred Experience
- Previous team leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience.
- Experience with self-funded and level-funded unbundled plans.
- Experience working with independent TPAs.
- Experience with systems such as Salesforce, AMS360, EPIC, or similar platforms.
- Strong carrier and market knowledge.
