Senior Attorney – Litigation

A boutique law firm in the Galleria area is seeking a highly experienced Senior Attorney – Construction Litigation to lead its litigation team and independently manage a full caseload of complex construction-related disputes. This leadership role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to mentor attorneys while helping drive the continued growth of the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a full litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and jury and bench trials.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a team of associate attorneys, paralegals, legal clerks, and legal assistants.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategy for construction-related matters.
  • Research and apply construction law, lien law, contract interpretation, and other complex legal issues.
  • Draft, review, and oversee pleadings, motions, dispositive briefing, and other legal documentation.
  • Manage discovery, depositions, expert witness coordination, and trial preparation.
  • Review and draft construction contracts, subcontract agreements, change orders, and related documents.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines, including Mechanic's & Materialman's (M&M) lien filing requirements.
  • Lead trial strategy, conduct witness examinations, and present arguments in court.
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships while serving as lead attorney on complex matters.
  • Provide mentorship, performance management, and guidance to associate attorneys and legal support staff.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and support firm growth efforts.
  • Evaluate case strategy and recommend settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial as appropriate.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal developments and satisfy all CLE requirements.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law and membership in the State Bar of Texas.
  • 8+ years of litigation experience with substantial first-chair or lead trial, hearing, mediation, and arbitration experience.
  • Construction law or complex commercial litigation experience strongly preferred (but can me taught).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a complex litigation docket.
  • Previous experience supervising attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong courtroom presence.
  • Knowledge of construction industry contracts, including AIA contracts, change orders, and payment applications.
  • Required working knowledge of Mechanic's & Materialman's (M&M) lien law.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
