    Description

Role Overview: We are hiring an architect to raise the design floor across engineering through trusted, practical technical direction. You'll shape a govtech platform spanning microservices, front-end replatforming, AI products, and AI-native delivery-making the system coherent, safe, and fast to change within a FedRAMP-conscious environment.

    Responsibilities:

Own cross-cutting technical direction: service boundaries, contracts, data architecture, and platform evolution across our decomposition and replatforming programs

Design in the open: architecture decision records, design reviews inside our Plan-and-Review cadence, explicit trade-offs, and written reasoning others can challenge

Treat dependent teams as first-class customers: gather their requirements before designing, validate against real consumers before building, and close the loop when things change

Raise the floor: coach tech leads through their own designs; success is more people who can architect, not more decisions routed through you

Keep designs as simple as the problem allows; we treat unneeded complexity as a defect, not a signal of sophistication

Partner with AI Operations and DevOps so architecture is enforced by the delivery system (contracts, validation, gates) rather than by memo

Bring architectural judgment to how AI agents design and modify systems, so machine-produced code lands inside human-owned structure

    Qualifications:

8+ years of engineering experience, including several years driving architecture across multiple teams in SaaS or platform environments

A track record of designs that shipped and held up in production; we will ask what broke and what you learned

Real experience decomposing a monolith into services in production, with the scars to show for it

Fluency with AI-era architecture: agentic systems, LLM integration patterns, and designing for codebases partially produced by agents

Experience in regulated environments (FedRAMP, StateRAMP, HIPAA, or similar) is a strong plus

Exceptional written and verbal clarity; you make complex systems legible

    Key Competencies

Comprehension before construction: you restate requirements in your own words and confirm them before you design

Visible uncertainty: you surface confusion early and loudly; silent guessing is the one behavior we cannot work with

Consumer empathy: the constraints of dependent teams are design inputs, not obstacles

Simplicity bias: the best design is the one the team can carry without you

Comfortable being wrong in public and fast to update

What This Role Is NOT This is not an ivory-tower seat and not a gatekeeping seat. If your model of architecture is producing artifacts that other people must implement, or serving as the mandatory approval on every decision, this is not the fit. Architecture here is a service to the teams shipping, and its success is measured by how much better they design, not by how often they need you.

How We Work We run an AI-native development lifecycle where agents help plan, build, validate, and release, while humans own judgment and direction. Our standards are simple: own and understand everything you ship, and surface uncertainty early.

    What We Offer:

Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, with significant employer contributions for employees AND dependents (contributions based on base-level plan; buyup plans available at additional costs)

    Company-sponsored life/disabilities insurances

    11 Paid holidays

    Flexible time off

401k plan with 4% employer match Monthly stipends for wellness and home office expenses
