    Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager


    Washington, DC Metro Area (Hybrid)


    An established and growing professional services organization is seeking a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager to join its collaborative finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of hands-on accounting, financial reporting, process improvement, and cross-functional business support.


    Reporting to senior finance leadership, this individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, improving accounting processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. The position offers strong visibility across the business and opportunities for continued career growth.


    Location: Washington, DC Metro Area (Hybrid)
    Compensation: Up to $120,000 plus annual bonus potential

    Key Responsibilities



    • Manage key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process

    • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

    • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages

    • Monitor billing activity, revenue recognition, receivables, and cash collections

    • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives

    • Partner with internal stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency

    • Assist with audit requests, compliance requirements, and special projects

    • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies and GAAP

    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance system utilization

    • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed


    Qualifications



    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

    • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

    • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting

    • Experience managing month-end close processes

    • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software systems

    • CPA designation or CPA-track preferred

    • Prior experience in professional services, consulting, business services, or similar environments is a plus

    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

    • Excellent communication and organizational abilities


    Preferred Background



    • Experience supporting a growing or evolving organization

    • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and business analysis

    • Previous mentoring, team lead, or supervisory experience

    • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
