This Scrum Master role supports a mission-critical Modeling and Simulation (M&S) program in a Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) environment. You will guide software development teams in applying Agile practices, enable self-organization and continuous improvement, and ensure that work is well-planned, prioritized, and executed. The position requires an active DoD Secret security clearance and offers the opportunity to directly support a long-term program for a major defense customer.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring they are efficient, focused, and outcome-driven.
• Engage product teams in the principles of self-organization, Agile mindset, and continuous improvement, coaching them to take ownership of their processes and delivery.
• Partner closely with Product Owners to scope, prioritize, and plan current and future work, aligning backlogs with program objectives and stakeholder expectations.
• Identify, track, and remove impediments that block team progress, proactively coordinating with stakeholders and leadership to resolve issues.
• Maintain backlog hygiene by ensuring that user stories are well-defined, properly sized, and sprint-ready with clear acceptance criteria.
• Capture, organize, and curate M&S process documentation, customer presentations, internal meeting minutes, and related artifacts to maintain clear and accessible project records.
• Monitor team health, velocity, and delivery metrics, and report status and trends to management, using data to drive continuous improvement actions.
• Serve as a resource and coach on Agile techniques, including user stories, continuous integration, continuous testing, and automated testing practices.
• Collaborate with software development teams as an active Scrum Master, supporting day-to-day execution and adherence to Agile best practices.
• Assist in decomposing Agile features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria, helping teams understand scope and definition of done.
• Perform Data Science and numerical analysis activities where applicable to remove team impediments, improve decision-making, and increase the likelihood of task completion.
• Support and align with processes, domain knowledge, and programmatic requirements specific to the C2BMC environment, ensuring compliance with established standards.
• Coordinate with stakeholders in the M&S high-side engineering environment to ensure that Agile practices align with hardware, software, and engineering constraints.

Essential Skills

• Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application.
• Demonstrated experience working as a Scrum Master as part of a software development Scrum team.
• Strong knowledge and practical application of Agile methodology and Scrum framework.
• Experience using Jira or other Agile management tools to manage backlogs, sprints, and team workflows.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and Microsoft Teams for documentation, collaboration, and communication.
• Process, domain, and programmatic knowledge specific to C2BMC environments.
• Surface-level understanding of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) concepts.
• Experience with radar modeling, C2 federated models, scenario development, and analytics processes.
• Understanding of the hardware and software platforms that constitute an M&S high-side engineering environment.
• Experience working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.
• Proficiency in Agile coaching, including guiding teams in Agile principles, practices, and mindset.
• Ability to decompose Agile features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Agile Certified Professional (PMI-ACP), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM).
• Experience with development and engineering software packages commonly used in M&S development environments.
• Understanding of systems engineering, software development, and verification cycles.
• Experience supporting defense-related or mission-critical programs, particularly in M&S or C2BMC domains.
• Ability to perform Data Science and numerical analysis activities to support decision-making and remove impediments.

Work Environment

This position is onsite at a secure facility located at the Highway 83 Lockheed location supporting the C2BMC program. You will work within a high-side M&S engineering environment that integrates specialized hardware and software platforms, development and engineering toolsets, and Agile management tools such as Jira, along with Microsoft Office and Teams for collaboration. The role involves close collaboration with software developers, systems engineers, and program stakeholders in a structured, security-conscious setting. The program offers long-term stability, direct support of a key Missile Defense Agency initiative, and a culture that emphasizes teamwork, continuous improvement, and disciplined Agile delivery.

This is a Contract position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
