Position: Scientist II
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 12 Months

Description: A Scientist II in the Scientific Applications team supports the generation of scientific data and customer-facing collateral that help drive the successful commercialization of Biosciences products. Working under the guidance of senior scientists, this role contributes to flow cytometry studies, product evaluations, scientific collaborations, and application development activities across reagent and instrument platforms.

The successful candidate will have foundational laboratory experience and a strong interest in immunology and flow cytometry. This role provides opportunities to develop technical expertise in flow cytometry workflows, experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication while contributing to cross-functional business objectives.

Job Responsibilities


  • Perform and support flow cytometry experiments following established protocols while developing expertise in immunology research, flow cytometry, and panel design best practices.

  • Prepare biological samples, cell cultures, reagents, controls, and instrument setups while following established laboratory procedures and best practices

  • Collect, organize, and perform analysis of flow cytometry and related experimental data.

  • Assist in optimizing staining panels, sample preparation methods, and assay workflows under guidance from senior team members.

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, study documentation, and experimental reports.

  • Contribute to the development of scientific presentations, technical reports, application notes, posters, and other customer-facing materials.

  • Conduct literature searches and summarize scientific findings relevant to ongoing projects.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across R&D, Marketing, Product Management, and Scientific Applications to support product development and commercialization activities.

  • Support internal and external studies that generate evidence demonstrating product performance and application utility.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, training requirements, and laboratory safety procedures.

  • Promote a safe work environment by actively participating in Environmental, Health, and Safety programs.



Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related life science field with 0-2 years of relevant laboratory experience.

  • Hands-on laboratory experience gained through academic research, internships, industry positions, or equivalent experiences.

  • Exposure to flow cytometry, immunology, cell culture, molecular biology, or related laboratory techniques preferred.

  • Basic understanding of immunology and experimental design principles.

  • Experience with data analysis software such as FlowJo, or similar platforms is desirable.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Experience with BD flow cytometers is preferred but not required.
