Description

The Site Coordinator at the Prince Joshua community center is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the facility and coordinating programs and activities for community members, with a particular focus on running Saturday Night Lights Basketball program for youth aged 11 to 18 in the evenings. This position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for community members

Reports To: Director of Youth Services

Location: 876 Schenck Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11207

Hours: Up To 8 Hours/ Week, Saturdays from 1pm to 9pm

Salary: $27.47 - $30.22

Responsibilities:

Program Coordination:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program for youth aged 11 to 18, including organizing practices, games, and tournaments.
  • Inputting attendance data and maintain accurate records of program participation, ensuring compliance with the DYCD requirements. Attend DYCD meetings and workshops. Stay updated on policies, procedures, and best practices in community operations.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate and promote various programs, ensuring efficient use of facility resources.
  • Establish partnerships with local schools, organizations, and sports associations to enhance program offerings and promote community engagement.

Facility Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the community center, including opening and closing procedures, maintenance, and security.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Procure necessary equipment and supplies for programs, ensuring their proper maintenance and storage.

Community Engagement:

  • Foster positive relationships with community members, parents, volunteers, and staff, promoting a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback from community members in a timely and professional manner.

Staff Supervision and Training:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of part-time staff, and coaches involved in the basketball program and other center activities.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels for programs and events, making adjustments as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program attendance, participant registration, and facility usage.
  • Prepare and manage program budgets, monitor expenditures, and seek opportunities for cost savings.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in program coordination, preferably in a community center or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball rules, coaching techniques, and skill development for youth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and age groups.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and supervise staff, volunteers, and coaches.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and ability to learn and utilize software systems for program management.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications (or willingness to obtain them).
  • Flexibility to work Saturday afternoons and evenings.
