    Description

    Operational Key Account Manager

Global supply chains succeed when a few critical customers can count on one person to keep freight moving, promises intact, and problems solved before they become headlines. This role owns that outcome for a portfolio of strategic accounts—turning day-to-day operations into reliable service, stronger partnerships, and measurable growth. You will be the bridge between customer expectations and the network that delivers them.

    Performance Objectives

    • Own a defined book of key accounts and hold service performance to agreed SLAs, recovering exceptions so on-time delivery and claim rates stay within target.
    • Run structured business reviews that convert operational data into clear actions, closing at least the agreed share of open issues each quarter.
    • Protect and grow revenue by identifying lane, mode, and service opportunities and converting a documented pipeline into awarded volume.
    • Lead cross-functional recovery when disruptions hit—air, ocean, or inland—so customers receive one plan, one owner, and a confirmed outcome.
    • Cut avoidable cost and rework by standardizing handoffs with operations, customer care, and pricing, and by tracking root causes to closure.
    • Embed sustainability choices customers can act on—mode mix, consolidation, and reporting—without sacrificing reliability.
    • Build executive-level trust so renewals and expansions are decided on performance, not price alone.

    Essential Qualifications

    • Proven ownership of strategic logistics or freight accounts, with results you can describe in service, retention, and revenue terms.
    • Working command of international air and ocean operations, including how exceptions move from booking to delivery.
    • Ability to run QBRs, negotiate scope, and align internal teams without losing the customer’s timeline.
    • Comfort reading operational and commercial data and turning it into a decision, not a slide.
    • Clear written and spoken communication with shippers, consignees, and internal specialists under time pressure.

    Role Selling Points

    • A portfolio where operational excellence is the growth strategy, not a back-office afterthought.
    • Scale across modes and geographies, so solutions are not limited to a single product line.
    • A public, established organization that competes on reliable partnerships and responsible logistics.
    • Direct influence on how flagship customers experience the network every week.
