Sales Director – North America (Magnetic Materials)
Location: Detroit Metro Area, MI (Hybrid)

Base Salary: $175,000 – $200,000 + 40% Annual Bonus
Car Allowance: c. $800/month

Our client, a global leader in advanced magnetic materials, is hiring a Sales Director to oversee its North American business. This is a newly created, senior role based in the Detroit area, with responsibility for day‑to‑day leadership of the regional team as the global head increases responsibilities in Japan and Europe.

The Opportunity

• Lead North America: Act as the de facto head of the North American sales organisation when the global leader is travelling or focused overseas.
• Own a growing team: Direct a team of 3–4 commercial professionals, including approximately 2 expats, providing clear direction, coaching and structure.
• Strategic impact: Drive sales growth and customer engagement across the region for a highly technical, magnetic‑materials portfolio.
• High visibility: Regular interaction with global leadership in Japan and Europe and a key voice in regional strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership for the North American commercial/sales team, ensuring clear goals, accountability and performance.
• Lead customer and account strategies for key OEM and Tier‑1 accounts in the region.
• Work closely with global leadership (Japan/Europe) to align North American activities with global strategy and product roadmaps.
• Develop and implement regional sales plans, including forecasting, pipeline management and reporting.
• Mentor and develop team members, building a high‑performing, collaborative culture.
• Represent North America in internal global meetings, acting as the senior point of contact for the region.

Candidate Profile

• Director-level commercial/sales leader with proven experience managing teams in a technical/industrial environment.
• Strong background in magnetic materials or closely related products (automotive / industrial / advanced materials strongly preferred).
• Demonstrated experience leading a small, highly skilled team and providing strategic direction.
• Comfortable operating in a global, matrixed organisation, collaborating across regions and cultures.
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Detroit metro area.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $175,000 – $200,000
• Annual bonus: 40% target
• Car allowance: c. $800/month
