Safety & Security Supervisor


Overview

The Safety and Security Site Supervisor will be responsible for providing leadership on all life safety and security related standards, systems, processes, while driving our safety and security initiatives across the supply chain network. Reports into the Supply Chain Safety and Security Manager and will be responsible for providing leadership with options, recommendations and best practices as a subject matter expert in safety and security.



What You’ll Do


Partner with operations to ensure the implementation and adherence of all aspects of our Injury and Illness Prevention Plan for assigned location(s).

Partner with the Global Safety and Security Business Support and Compliance Teams to support operations in executing Global Safety and Security initiatives.

Escalate requested changes and best practices to the Safety Compliance Team for review and standardization.

Anticipate, identify, evaluate hazardous conditions and build practices to aid in all critical incident planning, preparation and responses. 

Conduct inspections of facilities to identify and correct potential hazards, security risks, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Partner cross-functionally with all levels of site management in assigned location(s) to mitigate risk and resolve safety and security related issues.

Partner with site leadership in developing action plans to improve safety/security culture in assigned location(s) and promote employee engagement in safety/security programs.

Partner with operations and key stakeholders, to ensure all new hires receive safety orientation, and verify annual training requirements for existing employees.

Assist in the implementation and execution of safety and security accountability programs.

Maintain effective working relationships with regulatory agencies, industry security and life safety professionals, vendors, and suppliers. 

Prepare and submit security incident reports in compliance with company and insurance carrier requirements. Support any related investigations. 

Provide daily guidance to the third party guard service. Ensure guards are following documented post orders. Work to ensure there are no gaps in guard coverage.

Conduct physical security, camera system and access control checks to ensure compliance.

 

What You’ll Need



2+ years in a dedicated Safety/Security role or similar experience required. Bachelor’s Degree not required but preferred. 

Lean Six-Sigma experience desired.



In this role, one will drive positive change through collaboration with other management members. Working closely with operations management, this person will communicate, train, and coach safe work behaviors that align with Wayfair’s safety policies and security protocols. Additionally, this person will oversee third-party security guards to ensure they meet performance standards. The primary focus will be on assessing, reducing, and eliminating risks, as well as mitigating threats to our people, company, and assets.

GLOSS serves as a support function focused on upholding and enhancing our reputation as a "great place to work" by ensuring a safe and secure work environment. The work we do directly impacts this reputation. Reducing injuries and incidents not only fosters a positive culture but also leads to substantial cost savings for our organization, as diligent efforts to prevent safety and security-related issues help avoid associated expenses.

This individual will engage with various levels of management and interact with hundreds of warehouse associates, though there will be no direct reports. This position is unique within the building, with no other similar roles. This person will report to the GLOSS Campus Manager and oversee a team of 10-15 Safety and Security Agents. 

Previous Safety Experience: Prior experience in safety roles at Amazon & Target would be great-to-haves.

Software Proficiency: Experience with Gensuite and InfoLink software is preferred, but not mandatory.

OSHA Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA standards and regulations is required.

Powered Industrial Vehicle Expertise: Experience with powered industrial vehicle operation, training, and safety oversight is needed.

Fulfillment/Distribution Center Background: Experience working in a fulfillment or distribution center is important.

Security Experience: While security-related experience is a plus, it can be taught. Prioritize candidates with a strong safety background.
