Safety Manager

The Safety Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives across the organization.
  • Managing and maintaining the company's EHS database, safety records, and compliance reporting.
  • Overseeing OSHA reporting requirements, including OSHA 300 Logs and incident tracking.
  • Conducting field safety inspections, audits, and compliance reviews across active job sites.
  • Leading Toolbox Talks, Stand Downs, safety meetings, and employee training programs.
  • Managing incident investigations from initial response through root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Developing and maintaining safety documentation including AHAs, JHAs, Exposure Control Plans, and compliance checklists.
  • Monitoring equipment, vehicle, DOT, FMCSA, and driver compliance programs.
  • Tracking and improving EMR/MOD performance and safety metrics.
  • Partnering with operations leadership to strengthen safety culture and accountability.
  • Supporting prequalification processes, bid meetings, insurance renewals, and client safety requirements.
  • Building scalable training, certification, and compliance programs for a growing workforce.
  • Providing leadership reporting and recommendations to improve organizational safety performance.
  • Helping develop and expand the safety team as the business continues to grow.

A successful Safety Manager should have:

  • 3+ years of EHS or Safety Management experience.
  • 3+ years of civil construction experience.
  • Hands-on trenching and excavation safety experience is required.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and field compliance reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, incident investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience preparing OSHA 300 Logs and safety documentation.
  • Ability to lead Toolbox Talks, Stand Downs, and safety training sessions.
  • Working knowledge of EHS management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as OSHA 510, OSHA 500, CHST, CSP, ASP, or trench safety training are highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel regularly to multiple construction sites throughout the DMV region.
