Safety Coordinator – Steel Fabrication

Position Overview

We are seeking a Safety Coordinator to support safety operations within a high-volume structural steel fabrication facility. This is a hands-on, plant-based safety role responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, maintaining OSHA compliance, and supporting employees and management with day-to-day safety initiatives.

Candidates with a background in oil & gas safety or other industrial environments are encouraged to apply, particularly those looking to transition into a single-plant fabrication environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day safety activities within the steel fabrication facility
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and job hazard assessments
• Help develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs
• Maintain OSHA records, logs, documentation, and required reporting
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards
• Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses and assist with corrective actions
• Conduct employee safety orientations and toolbox talks
• Monitor PPE, fall protection, lifting/rigging, machine safety, and other plant safety requirements
• Work closely with supervisors and employees to identify and address potential hazards
• Track safety metrics and provide reports to management
• Assist with OSHA inspections and regulatory compliance
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the facility

Qualifications

• 3+ years of safety experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing, industrial, construction, or oil & gas
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred — approximately 90% of the plant workforce is bilingual
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and recordkeeping requirements
• OSHA 10/30 certification preferred
• OSHA 510 preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable working hands-on in a manufacturing/fabrication environment
• Technically savvy with the ability to learn and utilize safety software and technology
• Ability to work effectively with both management and production employees
