Schedule
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend
- Holidays as required
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Tele for a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients while monitoring cardiac rhythms, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred.
- Candidates with 18 months of experience may be considered if they have:
- Worked under the highest level of professional licensure.
- At least 1 year of experience in the specialty.
- ASN/Associate Degree in Nursing required.
- Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license required.
- Temporary licenses are not accepted.
- Current BLS certification from:
- American Heart Association (AHA), or
- American Red Cross.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Basic Dysrhythmia exam.
- Strong Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Med Surg/Telemetry patients.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and patient conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
- Assess patients and document changes in condition.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech.
- Follow hospital policies, procedures, and patient-safety standards.
- Float to other units and hospitals as required.
Patient Ratios
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
Floating Requirements
- Travelers must be willing to float to other units and hospitals based on facility needs.
Contract Information
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per contract without penalty; cancellations are expected to be rare.
- Overtime: Paid after 48 hours worked, regardless of whether the scheduled workweek is 36 or 48 hours.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Active AL or Compact RN license
- ASN degree
- BLS – AHA or American Red Cross
- Med Surg/Telemetry experience
- Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge and competency
- Willingness to float as required
