    Description

The Global Product Verification (GPV) team supports the Perfect Order Experience (POE) organization"s goal to ensure a great ordering experience by acting as a reliable product authentication and verification service for products sold by our selling partners. As a GPV Risk Manager II, you will own and manage risk program(s) and/or risk projects within GPV, where the risk strategy is defined, but the business problem and solution may not yet be fully defined. You will deliver independently, seeking guidance as needed, and may be embedded in a single team or work across multiple teams. You will serve as a subject matter expert for your risk program/projects, staying current on related industry trends-including changing regulations, innovations in risk mitigation, and testing mechanisms-and knowing how to apply them across teams. You will apply process improvement and risk-mitigation methodologies (e.g., risk assessments, Lean) to drive operational excellence across GPV"s product authentication and verification operations. You will oversee the rollout of controls or audits, including testing and measuring their effectiveness, and ensure your team accurately and consistently meets both qualitative and quantitative metrics as defined by leadership. You will mentor and develop your team, preparing them professionally to take on additional responsibilities and new opportunities. You will work closely with regional program stakeholders and internal partner teams (e.g., engineering, Legal) to identify trends and learnings that inform and support defect reduction initiatives and strategies. You will identify and drive efforts to reduce inefficiencies and costs in our operations while scaling and developing capabilities to support operational excellence.

    Key job responsibilities

You will own and drive risk program(s) end-to-end, including defining business problems, developing risk-mitigation solutions, and ensuring controls bring risk within tolerance levels.

You will measure and test processes or controls to inform product-level and program-level risk assessments, identifying and escalating potential gaps in risk assessment methodology, customer experience, and operational processes.

You will identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for your risk program, determine if success metrics are in place, and work to define them where they do not exist.

You will track individual and team-level performance and metrics, including quality assurance (QA) goals and weekly production targets, and drive corrective actions as needed.

You will support leadership and program stakeholders in meeting the organization"s goals and objectives, including providing verbal and written communications and updates (e.g., weekly business reviews, strategy docs, narratives, escalation responses, risk assessments).

You will contribute to and/or deliver program documentation, including narratives, risk assessments, and escalation responses, and may manage post-launch support plans for controls.

You will actively identify and drive opportunities to improve internal processes and procedures to streamline day-to-day operations, including leveraging AI to increase efficiency and scalability across teams.

You will make recommendations to partner teams about risk tolerance levels based on data, and drive teams to adopt and maintain risk-reducing controls with data-driven documentation (e.g., competitor analysis, legislation interpretation, safety research, cost of avoidance).

You will help partner teams and engineering teams make trade-offs by educating them on the current risk and regulatory environment.

You will manage overall schedules for risk mitigation projects, overcome issues, keep scope under control, and accelerate progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, clearing blockers, and escalating effectively.

You will work closely with leadership, Sr. Investigators, and Risk Specialists in identifying trends and themes to assist internal customers and POE stakeholders in driving upstream improvements in Seller quality metrics, Brand trust, and overall customer experience.

So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
