Description

Nine Line Apparel is looking for a Retail Technology & Systems Manager to own and advance the technology ecosystem that supports our growing retail and NLA × BRCC hybrid café portfolio. This role is not designed as a traditional IT help desk position; we are looking for a resourceful, hands-on technology leader who can identify opportunities, drive innovation, and execute projects that improve the customer and employee experience.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with retail operations experience and will serve as the bridge between technology, store operations, and business growth. This individual will lead initiatives such as mobile ordering, drive-thru workflows, POS enhancements, subscription programs, retail system integrations, and other technology solutions that create operational efficiency and revenue opportunities.

This role requires someone who can balance immediate store support needs while intentionally dedicating time toward long-term strategic projects. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working independently, and creating solutions in a fast-paced environment while operating with the same ownership, creativity, and resourcefulness that has defined Nine Line Apparel since day one.

This position is an individual contributor role and is not intended to build or manage an IT department. The focus is on maximizing technology impact, improving retail operations, and continuously creating value for the business

Job Responsibilities

Retail Technology Strategy & Project Leadership

  • Own and execute retail technology initiatives that support business growth, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Retail Operations, Marketing, Finance, Café Operations, and Leadership teams to identify opportunities for technology improvements.
  • Lead projects such as mobile ordering, drive-thru technology workflows, POS enhancements, customer loyalty programs, subscription sign-ups, and system integrations.
  • Evaluate emerging retail technologies and recommend solutions that align with company goals
  • Manage project timelines, coordinate vendors, and ensure successful implementation from planning through launch.
  • Maintain dedicated focus on long-term initiatives while balancing operational support responsibilities.
  • POS, Retail Systems & Integrations
  • Manage and optimize Shopify POS and related retail systems across all locations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve checkout processes, reporting capabilities, inventory accuracy, and customer engagement.
  • Support integrations between Shopify, café systems, payment platforms, loyalty programs, and other business applications.
  • Create and maintain product catalogs, SKUs, variants, and retail data structures.
  • Build reports and dashboards that provide insights into sales, inventory, customer behavior, and operational performance.
  • Partner with internal teams to improve system workflows and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Store Technology Operations
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot POS terminals, receipt printers, barcode scanners, payment devices, and related hardware.
  • Support security camera systems, access controls, alarm systems, and store technology infrastructure.
  • Maintain time clock systems and integrations with payroll and HR platforms.
  • Manage store networking equipment, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and connectivity solutions.
  • Maintain hardware inventory, warranties, vendor relationships, and replacement processes.
  • Provide hands-on support during new store openings, technology upgrades, and system implementations.
  • Retail Experience & Creative Technology Integration
  • Bring retail industry knowledge and operational insight into technology decisions.
  • Identify opportunities where technology can improve merchandising, customer engagement, and brand experiences.
  • Explore creative integrations involving apparel, merchandise, digital experiences, and product customization.
  • Manage store networking equipment, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and connectivity solutions.
  • Partner with creative and marketing teams on technology solutions that support merchandise launches, customer experiences, and brand initiatives.
  • Vendor Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Serve as the primary technology contact for retail-related vendors, software providers, and service partners.
  • Coordinate installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and system improvements.
  • Analyze recurring issues and develop scalable solutions.
  • Create documentation, SOPs, and training materials to improve store adoption and reduce downtime.
  • Continuously evaluate processes and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience supporting retail technology, POS systems, business applications, or related technology environments.
  • Experience working in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or multi-location operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technology projects from concept through implementation.
  • Strong understanding of POS systems, retail operations, inventory systems, and integrations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, store managers, and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and identify solutions without constant direction.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between store locations.

Preferred

  • Experience implementing mobile ordering, loyalty programs, subscription platforms, or customer engagement technology.
  • Experience with restaurant technology, café systems, or drive-thru workflows.
  • Experience with Shopify integrations, APIs, or third-party retail applications.
  • Experience with networking, low-voltage systems, cameras, and physical retail infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting multi-state retail expansion or new store openings.
  • Creative experience supporting apparel, merchandise, or digital retail experiences.
  • Prior military, veteran, or first-responder background aligned with NLA's mission and culture.
