Reports to: Campus Academic Dean
Position Overview
The Program Director provides effective leadership for the Respiratory Therapy Program. This includes ongoing program planning, course scheduling and assessment, communication with stakeholders and accreditation bodies, and fiscal management, all in line with Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) standards. The Director also provides leadership and commitment to innovative, relevant education for students.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate and consult with faculty to promote maximum commitment and results
- Maintain high standards of teaching, scholarship, and service
- Lead program initiation efforts, including securing clinical sites, acquiring programmatic accreditation, administering learning site budget allocations, and recruiting, hiring, and evaluating faculty
- Organize student advising procedures
- Organize faculty teaching loads and class schedules
- Develop and maintain collaborations with other colleges and programs for inter-professional educational opportunities
- Work with the main campus on planning and assessment
- Represent the program in the community at large
- Provide instruction for courses each term
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor of Science in a healthcare-related field
- Master's or Doctorate preferred
Licensure
- Active, current Ohio Respiratory Care Practitioner license
- Active, current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Additional advanced-level professional credential(s) preferred
Experience
- Familiarity with planning, assessment, and evaluation processes
- Curriculum development experience
- Minimum of four years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, with at least two years in clinical respiratory care
- Minimum of two years teaching, either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor
