Job Summary and Qualifications The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

What you will do in this role: • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy. • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy. • Assist with placement of artificial airways. • Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation. • Monitor patient for therapeutic response. • Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response. • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients. • Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

Qualifications 1 year of experience is highly preferred. NICU experience is required. Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date. STABLE must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date. Associate Degree. National Certification (NBRCTN, Licensure, Registered Respiratory Therapist or RRTRCP-State Respiratory Therapist).

About Parkridge East Hospital Parkridge East Hospital is a 120-bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services, including orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department, recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses, and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times.
