Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • The Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care services to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary disorders. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the Respiratory Care Practitioner assesses, treats, monitors, and evaluates patients requiring respiratory therapy while ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and hospital policies.

    Responsibilites:
  • Assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions.
  • Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, bronchodilator treatments, and other respiratory care modalities.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy systems.
  • Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpret results to guide respiratory treatment plans.
  • Evaluate patient responses to therapy and modify treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies, rapid response events, and cardiopulmonary arrests, participating in resuscitation efforts.
  • Assist with airway management, including endotracheal intubation support and extubation procedures.
  • Perform pulmonary function testing, airway clearance techniques, and respiratory assessments.
  • Provide neonatal and pediatric respiratory care, including resuscitation and ventilator management when applicable.

  • Requirements:
  • 3 years of exp preferred.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential: Required in CA, OR, and HI
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required in CA
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Preferred
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification: Required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification: Preferred
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification: Preferred
  • Registered or Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care: Required
