Job Title: Research Coordinator III

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Summary
The Research Coordinator III supports investigators in the Department of Medicine in the Section of Epidemiology and Population Sciences. This role coordinates activities for several funded studies, including a national epidemiologic study focused on African American men with prostate cancer and a Houston-based study of Helicobacter pylori among households, including participant engagement, recruitment, biospecimen collection and community outreach. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day research operations such as screening, enrollment, and monitoring of study participants. The position ensures accurate data collection, regulatory compliance, and the safety and integrity of research participants.
Job Duties
- Coordinates participant recruitment and enrollment for epidemiologic research studies, including screening, interviewing, and obtaining informed consent while ensuring adherence to study protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Manages participant engagement throughout the study lifecycle by coordinating visits, conducting follow-up activities, administering study instruments, and supporting retention efforts.
- Oversees research data collection, documentation, and database management to ensure date quality, accuracy, and protocol compliance.
- Coordinates the collection, processing, tracking, and shipment of biological specimens, maintaining appropriate documentation and chain-of-custody records.
- Maintains study regulatory records and supports IRB submissions, continuing reviews, protocol amendments, and sponsor requirements.
- Facilitates day-to-day study operations, including scheduling, study supply management, and coordination of research activities across multiple stakeholders.
- Serves as a liaison among investigators, participants, consortium partners, and external collaborators to ensure effective communication and study execution.
- Represents the research team at national meetings and conferences, contributing to study-related presentations and collaboration efforts.
- Supports preparation and coordination of required study reports, including weekly, quarterly, and annual reporting to IRBs, state entities, and consortium leadership.
- Coordinates participant engagement initiatives specific to a national, community-based epidemiologic study, including maintaining relationships with community partners and supporting outreach efforts targeting underrepresented populations.
- Supports a multi-site research consortium by facilitating communication and coordination with external investigators, sites, and study leadership.
- Assists with development and implementation of study workflows to support high-volume participant tracking, retention, and data management.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with patient recruitment.
- Experience with Epic.
- Experience with REDCap.
