Equity Research Associate – Business & IT Services 

Mizuho is seeking a highly motivated Equity Research Associate to join our Business & IT Services research team based in New York City. This is an exciting opportunity to support the Senior Analyst covering leading companies across information services, IT services, and other diversified business services. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of relevant experience and demonstrates both technical modeling skills and strong business acumen. This role offers early exposure to external client interaction and a clear path for growth in equity research. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support coverage of publicly listed companies across the Business & IT Services ecosystem, including information services, IT services, and other diversified business/professional services. 
  • Build and maintain dynamic financial models integrating Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow forecasts for companies under coverage. 
  • Assist in the publication of equity research reports, including company initiations, earnings recaps, and thematic industry pieces. 
  • Analyze and synthesize alternative and traditional data sources to assess industry and company performance. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts, management teams, and other key stakeholders. 
  • Support the Senior Analyst in preparing for marketing activities, non-deal roadshows, conferences, and client meetings. 
  • Participate in earnings calls, industry events, and management meetings to gather proprietary insights. 

Qualifications 

  • 1–3years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or consulting, preferably with sector relevance (e.g. technology, business services, etc.). 
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills in Excel; experience with forecast modeling and DCF preferred. 
  • Genuine interest in technology-enabled services and business process trends, including the impact of AI and automation on traditional services business models. 
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively in a professional research context. 
  • Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas and insights to internal and external audiences. 
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Team player who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high level of intellectual curiosity.  
  • Licensing (Series 7, 63, 86, 87) is a plus, or willingness to obtain upon hire. 

The expected base salary ranges from $100,000- $130,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
